This is a story all about how
My life got turned, flipped upside down
And i'd like to take a minute, just sit right there
And i'll tell you 'bout a town with a prince called "Belair"
In West Philadelphia, born and raised,
In the playground is where i spent most of my days.
chillin out, maxing, relaxin all cool or shooting some b-ball outside of school
When a couple of guys-they were up to no good
Started making trouble in my neighborhood
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared
She said "you're moving with your auntie and uncle in Belair"
I whistled for a cab and when it came near
The license plate said 'fresh' and it had dice in the mirror
If anything, i thought that this cab was rare
But i thought "naw, forget it. YO HOME TO BELAIR!"
I pulled up to the house 'round 7 or 8
And i yelled to the cab "yo hommie, smell ya later"
Looked at my kingdom, i was finally there
To sit on my throne as the Prince of Belair.

You can feel it everywhere
It's even snowing in L.A. while

I've gotten on a plane to India
And landed back in Buffalo
Still I haven't the faintest idea
Do any of us really know?
We appear to be ok
While our worlds are falling apart
And we look the other way
While breaking another's heart
Not long ago i tossed my T.V.
And I'm writing songs instead
I'll even sell you my CD
cuz we're all just trying to make some bread
